While the aroma of cigars fills the air, Havana is full of street walkers, vintage cars and fantastic architecture. It is split into 3 harbors, the Marimelena, Guanabacoa and Atarez, and the Almendares River runs from the northern part of the city through the southern part. The city itself is roughly divided into multiple parts, including Old Havana, which contains a lot of the older architecture, Vedado and the newer suburbs. Overall, the city is visited by nearly 1.5 million people each year, and is enjoyed by many for its sheer beauty and essence of the past.

1. Morro Castle (fortress), was designed by Juan Bautista Antonelli and built in 1589 to guard the entrance of Havana Bay. At that time, Spain controlled Cuba, but in 1762, it was captured by the British, and since then, has served as a landmark.

2. The Catedral de la Virgen María de la Concepción Inmaculada de La Habana is Havana's large Roman Catholic cathedral. The building started in 1748 and was finished in 1777. Currently, Jaime Lucas Ortega y Alamino is Havana's Cardinal Archbishop.
3. Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes de La Habana is the National Museum of Fine Arts, which displays artwork dating back to the colonial times, as well as contemporary work. Consisting of two buildings, the Palace of Fine Arts and the Universal Arts, the museum was built in 1954, but originially founded in 1913 by Emilio Heredia.
